Painting Tips & Information

Sealing Paper Mache'
Coat entire box/piece with one (l) coat of JW White Lightning. Let Dry.
Preheat oven to 200 degrees. Turn off oven and WAIT 5 MINUTES!
Put piece in for 10 minutes and take out.
You will be able to treat the Paper Mache like wood. You can sand just like wood.

Krylon 1311
I am not sure if you know it or not but Krylon has changed their formula.
The new cans have a red nozzle. Some painters have ruined their pieces.
Krylon evidently had to change their formula to comply with federal regulations.
If you can has a black spray nozzle, then it is still the old formula.
Their are several brands that are supposed to be as good as the old Krylon 1311.
Liberty Matte Spray
DecoArt Matte Spray
Delta Matte Spray
One painter told me that she like Liberty the best, it was equal to Krylon 1311.

Painting Waterdrops
This is a nice workpage for painting waterdrops!

You will note there are several colors. The waterdrops could be on a blue flower, red apple, or yellow pear. Remember to decide what direction your light is coming from and that will be your reflected light or highlight on top of the drop. Always remember the light comes through the drop at whatever direction you decide the light source is originating. Light cannot bend! You will place shadow under the drop where it is laying against the item, making sure the shadow is a darker value of the color the drops sits on. Note: Do not use black or burnt umber unless it is sitting on something grey or brown!!! Your refracted shadow is again the same value as your shadow. You are looking through the drop at the shadow that is created. The refracted light is where the light is coming through the droplet. The light is reflecting/highlighting the top, then going through the droplet,
and picking up the color of what it is sitting upon. Please note that everything is at the same angle. The light has created a shadow at the same angle. The above movement is from right to left.
